Digitized Ways of Working: Requirements, Opportunities, and Effects of Digital Platforms for Micro Entrepreneurship Found through a Systematic Literature Review

Solo self-employed are neither employees nor employers, they are lone entrepreneurs working in a way that meets their personal needs and respond to external factors such as globalization and immigration. As a hidden subgroup of entrepreneurs, they are the focus in this systematic literature review which utilizes qualitative content analysis to collate their requirements when using digital platforms to source and conduct their work. In addition to identifying developmental opportunities, the review found five pillars in digital platform usage: digital game rules, digital environment, value creation instruments, work types on platforms, and personal effects of digital labor. As well as providing the solo self-employed perspective of the social and economic application of these pillars, the review further contributes by providing future research avenues.
